About

A small home kitchen, a lot of butter, and everything that came out of the oven.

Lazy Baker is a home-baking journal. Every cake, cookie, loaf and slightly over-browned experiment on this site was made in a small home kitchen — mostly on weekends, usually with whoever was around to lick the bowl.

How it started

It began in 2017 with a banana cake and a very ordinary oven. The photos piled up, friends kept asking for recipes, and at some point it made sense to put it all in one place. That place is this site.

What we bake

Layer cakes for birthdays and festivals. Cupcakes by the tray. Brownies, blondies and cookies that are never quite the same twice. Brioche, cinnamon rolls and croissants when there is a whole afternoon to spare. Wherever it makes sense we swap in wholewheat flour and jaggery — a treat should still feel good the next morning.

About the photos

None of them are styled or staged. They are phone photos taken in the few minutes between “it is out of the oven” and “it is gone”. We have grouped them into collections so you can browse by craving rather than by date.
